Holy Week at Christ Church
Dear Friends,
Tomorrow we begin Holy Week as we remember the last week of Jesus’ life in story, ritual, music, prayer, food, water, silence and ultimately the great sound of celebration of love conquering all – even death. We have the opportunity to enter into the mystery of Christ’s passion, death, and resurrection through sacred liturgies that lead us through the cross to the joy of Easter.
While you likely have many responsibilities that fill your days, I urge you to make these services a priority whether in person or online. You just may find space and time for your heart to break wide open, your soul to be fed, and your life, transformed.
With my love and blessings
Emily
Join us this Sunday after the 10:00 service for a presentation and discussion on the Juvenile Justice system in Maryland, featuring guest speaker Pat Marks from the Maryland Alliance for Justice Reform (MAJR).

This Sunday, the 10:00 a.m. service will be an Instructed Eucharist welcoming our children whose Lenten learning and worship is focused on Making Room for God and Breaking Bread Together – in Peace!
How will your experience of the service differ? Look for annotations in the bulletin to inform and enrich your own participation in our liturgy (the work of the people.) Families with children will be invited to sit in the front pews. Ann will offer a reflection on Sunday’s Gospel; and at the time of the Eucharistic prayer, the children will gather around the altar. All of us will have the opportunity to experience anew the meaning and mystery of this beautiful sacrament. Then at Coffee Hour, everyone is invited to enjoy a selection of favorite daily breads, provided by our children’s families!
Spring Forward – Set Your Clocks Ahead and Come to Church at 10:00!
Tomorrow we will have one combined service of Holy Eucharist at 10:00 a.m., followed immediately by our annual all parish meeting and potluck lunch. Please plan to join us, elect officers, learn about the financial position of the church, honor the contributions of ministry leaders and staff, and more!
And don’t forget to bring your bags of carrots and a dish to share at the potluck lunch!
Let us pray for peace.
Eternal God, in whose perfect kingdom no sword is drawn but the sword of righteousness, no strength known but the strength of love:
So mightily spread abroad your Spirit, that all peoples may be gathered under the banner of the Prince of Peace, as children of one God;
to whom be dominion and glory, now and for ever. Amen.
